Also referred to as Russia Braid. It is one of the elements of the French art of passementerie which includes the creation of tassels, fringe, military braid and other textileembellishments.
Soutache and Bead Embroidery utilizes the soutache differently rather than being laid flat and sewn into curving shapes onto another surface, it is stacked in multiple layers and stitched so that the edges of the soutache are like looking at a sandwiche fromt he side.
